‘Lead Far’ – Your strategic advisory companion

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

Every leader has heard/read this at least once. It’s a classic leadership statement, used widely in course materials, brochures, or online posts. True statement. But how true does it resonate with you?

Similarly, an experienced leader has likely read/heard this one: “Culture eats strategy at breakfast”. Another true statement, and, again, how confidently can you say “That is true for me”?

A project is only as good as the strategy behind it, and the daily implementation of this strategy.

Still not convinced? Let’s take an example.

You are part of an organisation that runs artistic events, with volunteers as the main workforce. There are disagreements within the organisation about what benefits these volunteers should get. Free tickets to the event? Access to food during the event? Discounts with partner organisations? Some teams get this benefit, other teams get that benefit, maybe it even changes year to year. And the discussions about this are never finished, using up time that could be allocated to other action items.

This is not an uncommon scenario and has one root cause: the organisation has not defined a clear purpose and a strategy to implement it. Therefore no one agrees on how to acknowledge the work done by the volunteers.

If you are clear on the “why”, the “how” becomes clear.

Does your organisation have a clear “why”? If yes, you’re on the right track, you will be successful. If not, get in touch and we can design a strategy fit for you.
